In order to protect
historic character, locally designated historic properties--
whether a part of a district or individually
recognized as landmarks--require a
Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior
changes. Athens-Clarke County presently has a total of nine
(9) local districts and forty-one (41) individual local
landmarks.
